At Parrish Kauai, we have always had the highest standards of care for our guests. Now, more than ever, considering COVID-19, we are even more resolute on the health and safety of all our guests, owners, and employees, without compromising the quality of your stay.
We have taken many precautionary measures to ensure our guests’ well-being as well as that of our employees. We have heightened our already stringent practices around sanitation, disinfection and cleaning, plus we have added new specific measures. Read more about our Parrish Professional Clean program.
Traveling to Hawaii – Domestic
All domestic trans-Pacific travelers to Hawaii are subject to the State of Hawaii’s 5-day quarantine, unless they have an exemption via Hawaii’s Safe Travels Program.
Starting March 26, domestic travelers entering Hawaii will no longer need to show proof of vaccination/negative test or register with Safe Travels.
Vaccination Exemption
Any domestic trans-Pacific travelers vaccinated in the U.S. or U.S. Territories may participate in the exemption program starting on the 15th day after their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or starting the 15th day after they have received a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Travelers will need to apply through the State of Hawaii’s Travel Quarantine Exemption Request program by uploading one of three vaccination documents: a CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, a VAMS (Vaccination Administration Management System) printout OR a DOD DD Form 2766C. Please also please carry a hard copy of the vaccination documentation to show screeners at the gate prior to boarding and/or upon arrival in Hawaii.
Testing Exemption
Trans-Pacific travelers arriving in Hawaii with proof of a negative test result from a valid NAAT COVID-19 testing partner no more than 72-hours prior to arrival can avoid the 5-day quarantine. Evidence of a negative test result must be provided upon departure to Hawaii. If test results are not available before boarding the final leg of the trip, the traveler must quarantine for 5 days or the length of the stay, whichever is shorter in a quarantine approved hotel, not a vacation rental.
Trans-Pacific travelers who have recently recovered from COVID-19 may be eligible to be exempt from the travel quarantine. Travelers will need to apply through the State of Hawaii’s Travel Quarantine Exemption Request program.
Interisland passengers arriving on Kauai from Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island will are not required to complete a Safe Travels profile and are not subject to quarantine.
Pre-Travel Steps
All travelers are required to create a Safe Travels Account no sooner than 24 hours before their departure at https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/.
Please refer to the State of Hawaii’s COVID-19 trusted travel partners site for the list of approved testing providers: https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel-partners/.
Once received, all travelers must upload proof of negative test results to their Safe Travelers Account.
For a step-by-step overview of Hawaii’s pre-travel requirements process and options, you can download a quick reference chart or visit the State of Hawaii’s Travel FAQ page.
Children
Children under five years old are not required to test and will not be quarantined if traveling with an adult who has a pre-travel test exemption or a vaccination exemption. Children five years and older who have not been vaccinated must participate in the Pre-Travel Testing Program and test with a Trusted Testing Partner to bypass the mandatory 10-day quarantine.
Traveling to Hawaii – International
Direct international flights to Hawaii align with current CDC federal international requirements where NON-U.S. citizens traveling directly to Hawaii from an international destination must present BOTH a vaccination record AND a negative COVID-19 test result (NAAT or antigen) within 24 hours of boarding a flight to the United States.
International passengers entering the U.S. in another state or territory before arriving to Hawaii will be treated as domestic travelers when entering the State of Hawaii and will to participate in the State of Hawaii’s Safe Travels program as noted above.
Mask Mandates
The State of Hawaii has dropped its mask mandate in outdoor settings, however masks are recommended outdoors if you are in a large group. The State’s indoor mask mandate remains unchanged.
North Shore Update
On March 10, 2021 heavy rains triggered a series of small landslides and then a massive landslide happened on March 11, covering Kuhio Highway approaching Hanalei Bridge therefore cutting off land access to the North Shore. Since then, state and county crews and contractors have been working to clear the highway. Currently there is limited access to the public and we suggest not including trips to Hanalei and beyond until normal access is permitted. For an update on access, please check the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation website. More details also available on our Hanalei Bridge Emergency Road Repair Blog Update.
We are doing everything we can to provide a safe and enjoyable experience when you do get to visit us. Mahalo for your patience, understanding and cooperation.

Can you comment on the very latest news on the Covid according to your Governor today?
8/24/21
Thanks Tom

Aloha Tom,
The CDC continues to maintain that those that are vaccinated are safe to travel so long as they follow recommended safety precautions. With that, we are supportive of hosting guests that chose to travel during these times. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Sharmin Naghi Manzarek says
Hello I’m hoping that we can still make our trip in September but with the new rise in Covid cases I’m worried that we won’t be able to travel. What is your policy if we have to cancel due to Covid status, after our refund period?

Any word on if/when Kauai may re-join the Safe Travels program? Mahalo!

Greg Emery says
Earlier this week Mayor Kawakami asked the Gov to allow Kauai to rejoin the Safe Travels Program. By April 1st Kauai may participate (if approved).
JP says

Sandy Iwata says

Hello-
I am wondering what it means to test 72 hours from the final leg of the trip? I would be flying from minneapolis for a connecting flight in San Francisco or Seattle. Can I test back in Minneapolis? We have a February trip planned and hoping for all to be healthy and safe!
Also- if we are not able to come to Kauai this year, would we be willing to reserve our spot for next year around the same time?- Mahalo
JP says
Aloha Ashley, The rules are changing and best to check the Hawaii COVID travel page for current info, especially as you are not coming until Feb. However, as of today, the State requires a negative NAAT COVID “test taken within the 72 hours before departure of the final leg of their trip”. Yes, if you are not able to come in 2021, we will be more than happy to move your dates forward. Stay safe and well.

B Benoit says
I sent an email but haven’t heard back – I wanted to know what the property policies were for Nihi Kai due to COVID-19? Pool rules, cleaning of pool area, mask requirements when walking the property, use of BBQ area, etc. Are the policies the same for all your properties?
Thank you!
JP says
Apologize for any delay B Benoit, we wanted to confirm with the AOAO who maintains the common area. The pool, baths, tennis and BBQ areas are cleaned twice a day, which focus on high-touch areas. Kauai requires masks when in public. Since each resort property is owned and managed separately, each has their own policies, but they are pretty similar. You can read here what we do to maintain our properties. Aloha

Questions on this: “If your travel plans with us are between June 1 and August 31st 2020…flexibility of a full refund up to 30 days prior to your arrival should you need to cancel due to government imposed travel restrictions or flight cancellations. (“Cyber Promo” bookings excluded from refund option).
Does this mean Parrish will not issue full refunds for this date range unless there are govt travel restrictions or flight cancellations? In other words a client can’t just call and ask for a refund based on COVID-19. Is this correct? Thanks for clarifying.
JP says
Aloha Kent, Yes you are correct. We will only provide a full refund for the travel dates between June 1st and August 31st if the 14-day quarantine and/or the stay at home order remains in place for those dates, or your flights are cancelled by your airline. Currently the stay at home order and 14-day quarantine are expected to expire on May 31st, but it could be extended by the Governor.

Aloha!
I want to make sure I understand the adjusted cancellation policy. You state that a full refund will be given up to 30 days before arrival if you have a reservation between June 1-August 31st. Is that ONLY if you have to cancel due to government imposed travel restrictions or flight cancellations? Or can you cancel for other reasons as well?
Thanks!
JP says
Aloha Judy, correct, we are allowing this flexibility given the uncertainly around the longevity of travel restrictions, flight availability, etc. at this time.
Janet Schaefer says
We are scheduled to arrive on May 31 which is right on the dividing line of all this. How does this impact us? We are taking a wait-and-see on Hawaiian Airlines but would appreciate your recommendations.

Aloha Janet, I think you wait and see how April goes. As of now, it seems Hawaiian is planning on ramping up operations in mid-May. I know I have some travel planned for later May and like you am waiting to see. We will keep thing updated here and I suggest you sign up with Beat of Hawaii as they always are the first to announce what Hawaiian and other airlines are doing. Stay safe and healthy.
Janet Schaefer says
Thank you JP. We’ll hang tight until the beginning of May. We are always happy with the service and attention we receive from Parrish and are total fans of the Nihi Kai Villas. Given that our Oahu trip that we were scheduled to be on this week we may very well use THOSE vouchers to make another visit before the end of the year. We love you guys.
JP says
Mahalo Janet, much appreciated note during these crazy times. Stay safe and healthy.
Cindy Irissou says
Hi. I tried calling and left a message. I am sure you have a lot of calls to attend to so thought to email you instead. Wondering if you can help me understand our options for our upcoming stays June 11-21 (Emmalani Court and Pili Mai). We are expected to make final payment by April 11. Mahalo!
Simone says
Aloha Cindy,
Thanks for your call earlier today and we did also leave you a voicemail with some details. We have moved the final payment due date to 30 days prior to your arrival. So you can now wait until 5.11.20 before any additional charges will be made. So this allows us to wait and see when those travel restrictions will be lifted. You also can change your dates now for up to 1 year from your current arrival date at no charge and we can do that now if you would like. I hope this has been helpful and feel free to email us at [email protected] should you have additional questions!
Should the travel restrictions remain in place for longer than expected we would certainly flex our policies more to react to the current situation at hand.
Mahalo!
Simone

What is the status on any 14 day quarantines thru May? Currently, I am seeing only until April 30, 2020. thanks.
JP says
Aloha TM,
As of now, the 14-day quarantine does not have an end date. From March 25th through April 30th, the Governor has required that everyone in the State of Hawaii stay at home or in their place of residence. The Governor also has requested all tourists to postpone their trips for at least 30 days. Once there is a lifting of any of the restrictions we will post here so keep checking for updates. Stay safe and healthy.

Hi Jp
This last year we made a reservation for a particular Unit and about 5 months into the reservation the owner of the Unit wanted to use it so we were moved to a different unit. Then that unit was dropped by the owners because they quit with the Parish management and we were move again to a another unit.
Is there a way we can make sure if we book the first unit again for Parish to contact the owner to see if that time will be good and that they won’t be using it? Thanks Tom
JP says
Mahalo Thomas for getting in touch with us. Given the circumstances, this owner has chosen not to come to their Kauai home. If you are on island, we can certainly accommodate you. If you are not, then I do recommending staying home as traveling is not safe now. We will email you privately. Aloha
Tom G says
Thanks for your reply, no I am not on the Island but we recently cancelled our trip in April and I was asking about this Unit for next year but wanted to be sure the owner would not want to use it when we would book it.
Thanks Tom
JP says
OK, thanks for clarifying. Stay safe. Aloha

We are scheduled to arrive April 1 (reservation #136975). I sent an email on Wednesday about cancelling our reservation and receiving a full refund, but have not received a response yet. Please let me know if we can expect a refund. This is all so disappointing, but we appreciate the Aloha spirit Parrish is showing by offering full refunds during this unprecedented situation. Mahalo!
JP says
Aloha Nichole, per your request, we have cancelled your stay and refunded your card. Depending on your bank, it may take a day or so. It is disappointing but the right thing to do to protect everyone. We look forward to hosting you once we are past this crisis. Stay safe and healthy.

Anna says
We are scheduled to arrive on 04/27/20. We have not rescheduled yet, what do you suggest?
JP says
Aloha Anna, Since you have over a month to decide, I think you sit and wait to see how things are in mid-April. Depending on how things are then will dictate a lot. We are here for you once things become more clear and you can decide.

I sent a notice of cancellation due to Covid-19 travel restrictions from Canada via email to your email address yesterday. I just wanted to be sure that you got my email and request for a refund for Pili Mai Unit #031 for April 19, 2020.
Once this commotion has cleared up we will look into booking a future stay at Pili Mai. We are so disappointed!
Regards,
Dale

I received a refund for a May reservation minus the $50 cancellation fee. I’m curious why that was not part of the full refund you mention above. thank you
JP says
Aloha Teri, your full refund was processed as requested. Some were done is stages given the volume. We apologize for the delay.
teri goodman says
I appreciate your refunding my deposit to my credit card. I will definitely re-book. That said , United Airlines could take your lead. They will NOT issue a refund (reservation made in February for May 14th) to my credit card. They will leave the $$ amount on United’s website to use for a new booking. Perhaps there will be new waivers between now & May 14th, allowing a refund. I’m not sure how they aren’t more lenient in regard to the Pandemic.
JP says
Mahalo Teri for your note of appreciation. Check out this article on The Points Guy…it seems to offer some guidelines and hope for you. Good luck and we hope to host you soon.
Tenny Brannan says
I called today and sadly had to cancel a trip for 11 of us that we had planned for two years. We had saved to stay in this beautiful house. But, two of us have chronic diseases. and we just couldn’t risk it. I talked to Simone a week ago and Eileen today. They were so compassionate and helpful and put me at ease. We were able to get a full refund. I was literally in tears of relief. We have booked with the Parrish Collection for years and will be back FOR SURE. Thank you for your incredible customer service. Mahalo and God bless.
JP says
Mahalo Tenny for your kind note and we look forward to hosting you again soon.
Allison creak says
Hi there . My partner and I u fortunately had to cancel our stay at the resort on Saturday due to travelling from Canada. We were told our damage and cleaning deposit would be refunded immediately but I have not seen it yet on my MasterCard . Wondering how long it will take for that to be refunded? We would also like a proper receipt stating our cancellation and loss of the rental cost so we have the right documentation for our cancelled trip insurance. We have had no success in trying to call the line as it keeps disconnecting . Thank you for your time
JP says
Aloha Allison, your reservation was cancelled as requested and your card credited. Depending on your bank and their processor, it may take a few days to show up. Apologize and appreciate your patience on the phones. As you can imagine, we are trying to keep up with all the calls as best as we can.
