Beautiful property. Everything as expected. Love Kiahuna. The unit needs air conditioning in the bedroom. Very warm unit
Mahalo Carolyn for your review and comments. We are glad that you enjoyed the property. Usually, the tradewinds keep things cool throughout the day if you keep the windows open on both sides of the unit. We do have several units at Kiahuna that are air-conditioned and we look forward to helping you find the perfect one for your next stay. Aloha.

We’ve stayed here 3 times. This time I was disappointed at the amount of people walking past our outdoor area. Sometimes it was like a highway. It used to feel private. The Sheratons Luau next door was much louder than I remember. Our electronic door broke on our last two days so we were unable to lock it and missed our dinner reservation the first night due to being locked out. A lack of communication between the property and the management left us feeling frustrated. Dinner reservations are a must now. Everything is booked ahead and very busy. This unit is very nicely updated, clean and the location is perfect. We obviously love the unit as we’re repeat guests. I guess I just miss the peacefulness and calm we used to feel in Poipu in general.
Mahalo Carol for your review and comments. This unit is really one of the few beachfront properties at the resort. Because it is so close, there will be guests headed to the beach, past your condo at times. We are sorry that it was busier than your past stays. February is the high season, and with that comes the need for reservations and all the planning you mentioned. We are so sorry about your lock. The association needed to fully replace the lock/keycard system, but they had all gone for the day by the time we figured out what need to be done. Sorry that you missed your reservation. We hope to host you again soon, maybe in late April or May when things are a little quieter. Aloha.

Beach front
The property was lovely, immediately adjacent to the beach, although you have to walk around a hedge to get there. We missed access to a pool (but did not take advantage of the athletic club a ways away) but it was otherwise great. No a/c was not a problem.
Amazing location and unit!
My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary in Kauai in August. Our check in was a bit delayed from the time we were given but other than that we had the most pleasant stay. Welcomed with a very well appointed kitchen and treats left by the host and everything we needed at our fingertips! We had everything we needed for a great stay and the views cannot be beat! The host was very accessible and able to answer any questions very quickly. We already want to plan our return trip!

Natures feast in Poipu
Lovely property. Great location with the beach at our feet. No air conditioning so if trade winds not blowing can get pretty warm. Loved the gym membership that came with the rental
Birthday Getaway
This condo was perfectly situated and the perfect size for two people. The fans and open air aspects were delightful and made it cool enough without AC. There were great beach items available (chairs, umbrella, boogie boards and snorkeling equipment). The kitchen items were pretty basic but adequate for simple meals.
Great location!
We loved the location! Amazing dining close by. The one ‘complaint’ would be the lack of kitchen things such as no salt, pepper, coffee, coffee filters. Enjoyed the sea lion sleeping on the beach along with several sea turtles!
So glad you had a wonderful time, Dan! ???? And such a treat to have visits from our beautiful monk seals and sea turtles! We wished we could have had salt, pepper and coffee for you, but due to Covid these shareable items had to be removed for the time being. We’re hoping you found them easy to find in nearby shopping locations. We hope to welcome you back again soon and wish you all the best!

By far, the best location in Kiahuna Plantation!
Located at the west end of Kiahuna (last oceanfront unit), there is unmatched privacy. We’ve stayed in other oceanfront units, and there are constantly other guests walking by the back door. Sure, a few people end up walking by, but only a handful. The condo itself has everything you’d want or need to have a perfect stay. On top of all that, the owners, Dave and Sue, are fantastic people. They were extremely responsive to all my inquiries and requests, and they were amazingly accommodating and helpful as we dealt with canceled flights during the COVID-19 outbreak. We will DEFINITELY return!

Ideal location, but rundown for the price
You can’t beat this location, about 10 feet from the beach, but for the amount we paid per night I would expect more. The dining room chairs are worn, the tile in the kitchen and on the outside patio is cracked, the refrigerator and stove are rusty and the wood trim was beat up and dusty. On the plus the bedroom and living room furniture were quite nice and the house is well stocked with dishes, towels, beach chairs, etc. Again, though, it’s just too much $ for the negatives.
Jeanine, thank you for your review. Though we were surprised to see a low rating from you, we know our home is not perfect for everyone. And a vacation rental will never be as perfect as your own home. Our rates are very competitive, and are priced based on the amazing beachfront setting (with a comfortable beach bungalow thrown in). We try to be very transparent in what our guests can expect. Most of our guests (many that return again and again) love our little home. It’s unfortunate when some are not able to see the amazing paradise that surrounds them, and instead focus and dwell on the little things. We will have maintenance address any issues and appreciate you letting us know, though.

Perfection
15 feet of grass and then ocean, enough said. End unit provides cross breeze, and more ocean sound. The owners permitted us to check out late, very late as we had a 11 PM flight and thus enjoyed another day in paradise. Could not ask for anything more. Well equipped, did I mention ocean front. Walk on beach before sunrise, and after sunset. Great location for walking to restaurants. Can’t wait until next year

Great location, spectacular ocean view, could use some upgrades
We chose this property based on location and ocean view, and we were very pleased with these attributes. The furnishings are dated and slightly stained -- could use some upgrades. The listing stated the bed was new, but it was not very comfortable. Overall, the fabulous ocean front location makes this a great vacation rental.

Great location
the property is old and dated. Paint has been applied to make it look a little better. Broken tile on the the lanai, in the kitchen. Bathroom fixtures don’t match. Shower curtain is short and a mess, water goes everywhere. Kitchen equipment is down right cheap. Not a sharp knife to be found the kitchen is equipped with yard sale and cast off equipment. The Bed even though owners indicate it has been recently replaced is poor. New carpet has been cleaned and left wet now crusty to walk on. General cleanliness of unit is not really that good drawer handles sticky, dishes greasy. Kitchen refrigerator is covered with exterior rust. Furniture is old and worn out. Upholstery is sticky and dirty. Dissapointed in this VRBO experience.
We would not say there again.
We were surprised to see your poor review. We strive to provide a wonderful home in an amazing setting for our guests. If anything is unsatisfactory, please let us or the front desk know and we can address it during your stay with onsite housekeeping and maintenance. To address a few of your complaints…the lanai tiles that are broken are in the corner of our lanai under a bush, and just recently were damaged by our property’s landscaping crew that trim our beautiful palms (the palms that sway in the ocean breeze, providing lovely afternoon shade as you relax watching the waves break). Complaining about freshly washed carpet is a new one for us -- but because we book up continuously, housekeeping may have not had time to return to vacuum it again when dry. If you had let us or the front desk know, housekeeping would have come over immediately to vacuum and soften the fibers again. Our bed is comfy and relaxing, with new mattresses purchased last Spring. Unfortunately you didn’t like our furnishings, which is simply a difference in taste (our listing photos are up to date accurately representing our furnishings).
We love our home, our beach house decorating, and always try to build realistic expectations with our guests -- stressing our home is a comfortable beach house in an amazing oceanfront setting. We know that some guests look for any faults and unfortunately sweat the small stuff, letting it burden the amazing vacation they could be having. We can’t please everyone, and can just hope any potential guests that see this review also see the 95% of guests that give us 5 stars, and we have many guests that return to us again and again.

Spent last few days of our trip here, soooo relaxing.
Loved the view and the sound of waves crashing on the beach. Can’t wait to go back here.
Lovely beachfront setting
Lovely beachfront setting. Comfortable but worn unit, with chipped paint and tile, dingy walls, worn and disintegrating ceiling fan blades and lumpy bed. Comfortable but not fancy, needs a refresh.
Would be nice if the resort would post a sign indicating no outlet/ no beach access near unit to stop all the people walking by, turning around and walking back.
$205 cleaning fee seems a lot for 600 sq feet.
Thanks, Jeff. Yes, our home is a comfortable beach house, in an amazing setting. Beachfront properties are affected by the salt air constantly, and we strive to keep up with freshening our home continuously. As of April, 2019, we refreshed our home including brand new carpet throughout, and a new mattress and bed frame in the bedroom.
There are signs near our home that indicate no beach access. But, we can’t control guests exploring the property, especially with the beautiful view from our lanai. Any that do walk by are very few compared to everywhere else on property. But, if it does become a nuisance, our guests are encouraged to let the front desk know. They likely can help out during your stay. We’re glad you had a great time, otherwise. ????

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
I recommend that you read through these reviews very carefully; there are many themes here that I missed before booking this property. The positives are summarized well for this unit; the location cannot be beat. It is right off the beach with a natural barrier between the beach and front lawn; the views are beautiful. With that, the lawn is public property and people use it often to access units behind this building. The public park that is approximately 50 yards wide by 100 yards deep in between this unit and the Sheraton is heavily used by locals and vacationers. Being an end unit, it gets very loud and is always busy.
The size of this property is comparable to a hotel suite; the cleaning fees are excessive based on the size. I know that is not in the owners control, however it is good to know and understand before you rent. They schedule a mandatory midway cleaning for $35; if you want towels exchanged, there is an additional fee for that. There is an additional fee for everything. It would not have been an issue for us, however the unit was not clean. When we arrived, there was long term dust build up and cob webs throughout. Some examples include the alarm clock and the end table in the bedroom. There was a thick layer of dust on it and the lamps housed cob webs. The coffee table and the lamps in the living room had cob webs and were caked with dust. The dust that had been there a while. The furniture in the living and dining is cloth; they were well worn and very soiled. The cream fabric on the dining room chairs are no longer cream or ivory anymore. The carpets are well worn and soiled.
As for the bed, when we walked into the unit the bedroom is the first thing you see on the right. At first glance, we saw that the bed was not new (we even looked underneath of it). It has significant dips; in fact, the mattress had significant indentations on both sides of the bed which looked like a hill between two valleys. One side felt softer than the other, however I would describe my side as lumpy and uncomfortable. We were on two different levels; this mattress needs to be replaced. Overall, I would say the bed was the most disappointing part about our experience. At this price point, I expect the bed to be “deliciously comfortable” as one previous reviewer stated. My take away from this experience is to read through the reviews a couple of times carefully because everything in this post was previously stated many times.
Susan, so glad you enjoyed the amazing view and setting of our home! We always strive to provide an enjoyable experience for our guests, and were surprised to see your review.
There is no public park next to our unit, just the beach access. All beaches on the island are public, but our beach is mainly used by our property guests and adjacent hotel guests, which keeps it much less crowded than most beaches on the island. I’m sure you would agree the beach is peaceful and empty in the mornings and evenings.
Most of our guests relay to us that the beach was much quieter overall than they expected. Your stay was very close to the holidays, possibly a time when our property and the adjacent hotel were booked up, and locals also had holiday time off and were enjoying the beach? There is no beach access from our lanai, but we can’t stop other onsite guests from exploring the property, and occasionally you will see someone walk past your lanai (especially since our home has such an amazing view).
Any home has some normal wear and tear, and we love having housekeeping and maintenance onsite that can address things immediately. If our home is not cleaned to your standards, please let us or the front desk know and we’ll address it immediately. Cleanliness is always fore front, and even our furniture and carpets are deep cleaned several times per year. Being beachfront in a tropical climate, all fabrics, linens, and even your clothes can feel a bit damp/worn. We were surprised to hear you felt the need to deeply inspect our bed. We just stayed in our home 3 weeks prior to your arrival, and the bed was great – no dips/valleys. Maybe the mattress slipped off the bed frame slightly? As in any hotel or rental home, the bed will be different than yours at home, and may be too soft or too hard based on your preferences. We love our furnishings. Our mattresses are brand new, as well as our smart TVs, and several items of furniture.
We strive to be very transparent within our listing (all info and images are up to date), and encourage any potential guests to ask us questions prior to booking, should they have any. Regarding the cleaning fees, this is clearly stated in our listing and addressed again in the rental agreement you were emailed after booking.
Yes, we always encourage our guests to read our reviews, and take into account our 90 percent raving guests that don’t let the little things affect their amazing vacation. Many return to us again and again.

Beautiful spot, though "PRIVATE" isn't the right word
The view and location is fantastic, and Dave and Sara (the owners) were super helpful and friendly. That said, there was a large family staying in the condo next to me, and kids and family members were constantly walking through the garden around the building to get to the condos behind, where more family members were staying. They are totally entitled to do this, the grass is public grass. But it was definitely less peaceful and private than I had imagined. So it’s not private, exactly, more like exclusive (beach front view) and perfectly located (30 second walk to beach access). I see in another review a complaint about the bed, and that it’s a new mattress-- but I also felt like there was a big dip in it. It was ok, but not deliciously comfortable. The view and the proximity to the beach really is awesome-- the highlight of this unit.
Thanks so much for your review, Sara. ???? We’re sorry to hear you had very active neighbors. It rarely happens, and is not something we can control, unfortunately. But, letting the front desk know of any nuisance to your enjoyment can help. They can address any issues with neighboring guests and ask them to be respectful of your privacy.
We stayed in our home just a few days after you, and the mattress was great with no dips. The mattress may have shifted off the bed frame, which can cause a dip?
Glad you enjoyed your vacation otherwise!

A slice of beachside heaven
Where do I begin, the grounds on the plantation that the condo sits are absolutely stunning, with trees dating back over 100 years. Tropical flowers, koi ponds, the grounds are just stunning. The condo feels more like a private home than a condo. We never once heard a neighbor even though there is a shared wall. The beach is one is the most beautiful beaches we have ever experienced. The sand is a golden color, and it’s never too crowded. Waking up every day and watching the sun rise is just paradise. The condo is nicely appointed, with utensils and what not, but we were on vacation and ate out every meal. The decor felt like we were in a Tommy Bahama store. Perfect for the area, plantation shutters for privacy. We kept the windows open (screens) and the temp inside was just perfect the entire time, with the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach, lulling is to sleep. We cannot wait to return here; it is simply one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. Poipu is sunny 95% of the time, the sunniest part of the island. We had only a light dusting of rain that lasted for 15 min and that was it. The rest of the time it was stunning. Thank you again for an amazing stay, we will be back for sure! Bryan and Dana

Not very private
Usually if you can’t say something nice you shouldn’t say it at all. However when you are paying top price you should express an opinion. We were disappointed in our condo, although billed as very private it is adjacent to a public park that populates the beach directly in front of of the unit. Not only did we have beach goers but also walking traffic along the lawn in front of our unit. We do expect that type of traffic but not when its billed as very private. The overall appearance of the development was very good and well groomed and the property managers were polite and pleasant.
We have been frequent users of vrbo that mostly have lived up to their billing; this unit was clean but very tired, the sofa felt soiled to the point that we placed an extra sheet down to sit on it. The bathroom was in need of new caulking along the tub wall connection and there was dirt accumulation in the corners where the tub meets the floor. The kitchen was equipped with enough utensils but some of them were in need of repair and returned to the housekeeping.
Rod, we always strive to provide an enjoyable experience for our guests, so were very surprised to see your review. Our home is one of the most private bungalows, being a beachfront end unit in a single-level building. There is no public park next to our unit, just the beach. All beaches in the island are public, but our beach is mainly used by our property guests and adjacent hotel guests, which keeps it much less crowded than most beaches on the island. I’m sure you would agree the beach is primarily empty in the mornings and evenings. Our home does have privacy hedges that separate it from the beach but not the views, as well as tall lush vegetation to add further privacy. There is no beach access from our lanai, but we can’t stop other guests from exploring the property, and occasionally you will see someone walk past your lanai (especially since our home has such an amazing view). Any home has some normal wear and tear, and we love having housekeeping and maintenance onsite that can address things immediately. If something like caulking on the tub and a little dirt at the corner were interrupting your enjoyment, please let us or the front desk know and we’ll address it immediately for you. Cleanliness is always fore front, and even our furniture and carpets are deep cleaned several times per year. Being beachfront in a tropical climate, all fabrics, linens, and even your clothes can feel a bit damp. So, that must have been what you may have been interpreting as “feeling soiled” with our couch. We love our furnishings and we’ve never had a complaint about them. Our mattresses are brand new, as well as our smart TVs, and several items of furniture. Maybe you just had a difference in personal preference? We strive to be very transparent within our listing (all information and images are up to date), and encourage any potential guests to ask us questions prior to booking, should they have any.

Expected more...:-(
We were really looking forward to our stay after just getting married and downsizing from our large home.
The location was lovely. Unfortunately our disappointment was in the quality of the bed and linens. The shower always leaked water as it seems the shower curtain isn’t long enough. Additionally, the kitchen was less than efficient. Typically, every kitchen has at least salt and pepper. This did not even have that. Little adjustments and updates could make this a wonderful vacation home. On a scale of 1-10 we’d give it a 6. Thank you regardless, as we were in honeymoon heaven.
Thanks for your review, and we were disappointed to hear that your stay wasn’t perfect. We always strive to provide our guests with a wonderful place to enjoy their vacation.
We were surprised to hear the factors that affected the enjoyment of your stay. (1) Our bed is a roomy california king with a mattress that is only 1 year old, and our fresh linens are resort hotel high quality. (2) We will definitely take a look at our shower curtain, and haven’t had a leaking issue noted before. (3) We try to be very transparent on what is included during our guests’ stay. As with most vacation rentals, food and drink are the guests’ responsibility.Often we will have salt, pepper and other spices available in the unit left from previous guests. But, this is a plus, not a guarantee.
We hope these few items didn’t interrupt the wonderful memories we’re sure you made on your honeymoon. We wish you all the best.

Relaxation for a Week
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Plantation. We visited in December and were very fortunate with the weather. Poipu is a perfect location for day trips up the east coast or up the west coast of Kauai. The room was adequate for our needs. Comfortable bed, enough kitchen supplies for simple things, a full size fridge and a dishwasher. The sunsets were beautiful from right in front of the patio. The price is on the upper end for the unit, but the location, convenience and maintenance of the grounds all need to be considered a big plus. The end unit is private and public beach access next door was not a problem or concern for us. Sitting on the patio when the Luau was going on at the Sheraton was a little distracting. But if that’s the case for you, do what we did and just walk over and enjoy the show. Happy hour at the on site restaurant offered good pupus and cocktails at a decent price.

A terrific location and comfortable.
We love the Kiahuna Plantation and came a number of times many years ago with young family. It was fun to return and this unit is perfectly placed. These older units are a bit tired and not up to current amenities, especially the kitchen and bathroom, but still we had a nice stay. The newer (to us) shopping and dining areas nearby are terrific additions to the experience.

Not as private as would have liked
I should have done more reasesrch on the property. The west side is open to a public beach area so you will have people standing and showering from sun up to sun down 15′ from you windows. I know the beach is public but afternoon when we came home the hedge that is in the picture between the room and the ocean would be set up with umbrellas and beach goers staring into you room. Multiple times during the evening people would walk thru the grass area short cutting back. The views were great first thing in the morning and evening. The complex is nice and quiet but lavas bar area has two outside showes a week and # is the closest
Thanks for your review, Mark. Our home is the most private condo on the property with amazing views. Morning and night the beach is super quiet and empty. During the days, the beach may be busy or it may be quiet. It depends on the number of guests staying. There is no beach access from our lanai, which cuts down on traffic. Occasionally you will see guests exploring the property that happen to walk in front of our lanai, but that is rare. The privacy hedge between our home and the beach is set higher than the beach, which allows for beautiful views of the ocean and an occasional umbrella with limited views of beachgoers when sitting on our lanai. The west corner of our privacy hedge has a large amount of landscaping to provide even more privacy from the beachgoers, which also adds nice shade during the afternoons. Plus, all of our windows and doors have plantation shutters that can be closed for added privacy. The luau next door at the Sheraton is rated the best on the island. Though it’s conducted twice per week, it ends at around 8:00pm. It offers an opportunity for guests to watch the show free from the beach, or for those not interested, it’s a great time to go out for dinner.

Very nice location. Just a few steps to the water
Overall, this was a very clean and well-appointed condo. My sole complaint was that it was bit hot and stuffy from midday to the late evening. Perhaps it was the time we went, but there were virtually no ocean breezes we’ve normally experienced on the Hawaiian Islands. One suggestion would be for a portable fan to assist with cooling the bedroom.
Glad you had a great time, Jess. ???? It’s so rare to not have any ocean breeze, especially being right on the ocean. We’ve never experienced that ourselves at our home. We do have ceiling fans, and a floor fan located in the bedroom closet. We apologize -- it sounds like it was hidden too well.

One of our top places to stay in Hawaii
This place is great and the owners, Sara and Dan, are fantastic. They were very responsive to my few questions regarding the place and the place was exactly as described on HomeAway. My thoughts are as follows:
Location
You are really paying for the location of this condo. It is literally on the beach with stunning views and great beach location. There is a nice grass area right in front of the condo. It is an end unit with some trees on the side that provide great shade in the afternoon hours so you can sit in the shade. It is around a 30 yard walk to the beach (note you cannot walk in a straight line from the condo to the beach as there is a hedge). The hedge though acts as a great barrier of privacy from the beach and your condo backyard. There is good surfing not too far away.
Condo
The condo itself was clean and in very good condition. Our sons brought their own air mattresses so I do not know how comfortable is the pullout sofa bed. The master bed was great and the kitchen had everything we needed but we did not cook meals at the condo. During the evening, it is noticeable warm but manageable. There are fans in the master bedroom and in the main room which are extremely helpful. We left the windows open at night which helped with the ocean breeze. We were fine without AC but it would have been a nice touch at times. Remember that we did stay here at the hottest time of the year. With that said, our family did not complain about the heat in the condo.
GYM
The gym is located across the street and is around a 10 minute walk or you can drive there. The gym itself had older equipment compared to what you would find in a Westin Hotel. With that said, it had a larger selection of equipment and the rooms were large. Our family liked the gym but realize you will not be using the latest equipment.
Swimming Pool
My family is beach people and we rarely use the swimming pool when we are in Hawaii. We never did use the swimming pool which is also located across the street by the gym at the same location. If a swimming pool is a high priority for your trip to Hawaii, the pool that we saw is very basic. It would work great for kids 8 and under. If you have older kids that like huge water slides and multiple swimming pools, this is not the location for you. For our family, the swimming pool is not a priority so it was a non-factor for us.
Conclusion
We loved it and we will be back. I highly recommend it.
So glad your family enjoyed your stay, Greg! Thanks so much for your thoughtful review! Just a quick note for guests that are looking for great pool time, as well…(1) The Poipu Athletic Club pool (free to guests) is great for kids, and at times is a nice quiet retreat from beach-goers. (2) Another great option is the Sheraton (right next door) that allows our guests to use their beach-side pool for a fairly small daily fee, which includes food and drink service, as well as pool cabana and beach cabana options.
Great little beach condo!!!
The perfect getaway spot. RIGHT on the ocean! We could hear the waves crashing on the shore at night and watch the waves roll in from the kitchen, dining, living room, and private outdoor patio. Comfortable condo with fully stocked kitchen and even a collection of boogie boards and snorkel gear available for our use! End unit so lets in some extra airflow and also had the privacy of a private ocean retreat.
Kaihuna Plantation is also great. Beautiful lawns, gardens, nicely maintained, and well located with perfect beach access yet an easy walk to the shops and general store across the main road. We will definitely come back again!
We found the Perfect Condo!
We stayed at Kiahuna Plantation condo #200 for the first time the last week of April and was beyond impressed. It was our sixth time staying at Kiahuna (all in the beach front) so I think we’re pretty good candidates to say which condo ranks right up there in the top spot.
This is hands down the most private condo. You have a few vacationers who are occasionally lost walking past and the few morning joggers that come around but other than that its very secluded. The hedge in front is just the right height to allow a beautiful view of the ocean and great sunsets but high enough not to feel uncomfortable from the people on the beach. It is a one story building with only one neighbor on one side making it q quiet spot as well.
This condo has the best grassy shade for the hot afternoons! You can relax on the grass in front of the condo all afternoon into the evening as you watch the sunset.
The condo itself is stocked with everything you need, including nice new beach chairs, bogie boards and umbrella. The bed is comfortable, and the fold-out is perfect.
It has a Keurig coffee maker and coffee stocked adds a special touch. The owners are also great which makes this condo our best pick.
So if you’re planning on staying at Kiahuna Plantation, you cannot find anything better than this!

Wonderful Property
The property is definitely beachfront although you must walk to the middle of the grounds or around the building in the back to gain beach access. The property is situated immediately next to a public beach. A few nights people were there drinking/smoking and playing music until around 11:00 p.m. The Sheraton Hotel next door also has a luau a couple of times per week which is very noisy in the evenings. Because of security concerns being on the first floor, we were also contacted by the property security office to close our doors and lock them in the evening. We did this but the unit became very hot at night because there was no air flow. There is a fan in the bedroom closet that we used and appreciated! These are the only negatives I can say about this property. The unit is small and cozy but great for 2 people. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the use of the boogie boards and beach chairs/umbrella in the closet. It was nice to have a refrigerator and stove (would recommend getting a toaster). Location was everything and we toured the entire island and found no comparison. Having the Sheraton next door was convenient and just a short stroll over to their grassy area we could watch the sunset every evening. We were able to see whales one day and were very excited about that! I would stay here again especially now that I know the ins and outs -- Great property!
Thanks so much for your review, Carol. ????
Usually our beach is empty and quiet at night and in the mornings. In cases like you encountered, don’t hesitate to contact the front desk and inquire whether they may be able to help resolve any interruptions like this.
The luau next door at the Sheraton is rated the best on the island. Though it’s conducted twice per week, it ends at around 8:00pm. It offers an opportunity for guests to watch the show free from the beach, or for those not interested, it’s a great time to go out for dinner.
All guests are greeted by our onsite security, just because many guests have never stayed in accommodations with plantation shutters. The property and area are very safe, but the onsite security just wants guests to think about keeping things secure like you would in a hotel room. So, typically when we stay there, we leave slats of the plantation shutters open as we see fit per privacy concerns mainly. And lock the front and back door when not inside. There is also a safe for securing any small personal items. Regarding airflow, guests can leave open the shutter slats as they see fit, plus there are ceiling fans, and the additional floor fan (glad that came in handy for you).
We do have a toaster. Sorry that may have been hidden too well in the kitchen. ????
We’re glad you enjoyed your stay, and are looking forward to having you again!
Best place on Kauai!
Hi! I simply loved this unit. The views are incredible. Monk seals lounging on the beach. Easy walks to great restaurants. And the owners are the most gracious and wonderful people I have ever dealt with.

Magical!
If you’re looking for the perfect spot to stay on Kaua’i, LOOK NO FURTHER! This gorgeous little bungalow has a private patio over looking the ocean where this time of year you can see whales splashing around from the breakfast table. No binoculars needed, but you can snag a pair to see those beauties up close. Lots of close by restaurants and bars you can walk to, we suggest Bangkok Happy Bowl, Keoke’s, Lava’s and Rumfire (those two at the Sheraton next door). Kali Pakistan Joe’s is a 5 minutes drive but they’re tasty too. If you don’t feel like going out, you can cook in the kitchen and eat dinner on the patio table under the millions of twinkling stars! Or before going out enjoy a cocktail on the lawn and watch the beach goers pack up as the gorgeous sun sets. Everywhere we went we met ton’s of locals who were the nicest people ever and have tons of tips on where to go for sightseeing and activities. The beauty of this place and it’s people make this a trip filled with a life time of memories. I have been to all the islands and Kaua’i, and this is by far our favorite (hubby has been to Mau’i.) Every time we go to Hawai’i, I think this is going to be our home base and we can island hop if we need to explore. You will absolutely not regret staying at #200 in Kiahuna Plantations.
