Coconut palms sway at Kapaa Beach Park located halfway between our North and South Shore Kauai vacation rentals. In the olden days this is where canoes stopped to get their bearings before making a beeline directly across the channel to Oahu. Now you can stop and enjoy many Kauai activities here at the park, along the shoreline and in the eclectic community of Kapaa. This is one of the few Kauai beaches located right in a town center surrounded by restaurants and shops.
Kauai Activities at Kapaa Beach Park
Cool off with Hawaii shave ice next to the park, munch on a vegetarian meal or in a popular diner, enjoy coffee and juice bars when it’s time for a break, stroll downtown with its interesting boutiques, rent a bike to ride on the coastal Kauai Path and maybe take in one of our popular Kauai events at the park. It’s all here including the Kapaa Library and a free swimming pool. This mixed use beach area is one mile long with ironwoods and coconut palms providing shade and scattered oceanfront picnic areas to admire the views.
Kapaa Beach Park – Guide to Kauai Beaches
Both ends of Kapaa Beach Park are somewhat protected as is the center near the jetty. Kauai snorkeling enthusiasts may have luck at the northern end of the beach. The center area is best for parking. You will also find restrooms and showers in the middle of the park and also at its southern end. While not popular for swimming, the views and oceanfront walk are enjoyed by all. If you enter the ocean here, check conditions carefully and look for a spot that offers the best protection. Be sure to stay away from channels and rivers that can be murky.
