Kauai is loaded with fantastic hiking trails that will take you past dramatic coastlines, rushing waterfalls, tropical forests, and more. If you are up for a hike but are looking for something on the more casual side, there is plenty of great trails from which to choose. The team at Parrish Kauai is here to provide you with some recommendations on easy hikes in Kauai. Here is a look at some of our favorite casual hikes.
Easy & Rewarding Hikes in Kauai
Just because a hike is easy does not mean it is not beautiful or rewarding. These easy hikes in Kauai will immerse you in some of the island’s most gorgeous settings, and you will not feel too worn out to enjoy the rest of Kauai’s exciting activities and attractions.
Hoopii Falls Trail
What is better than seeing a waterfall during a hike? Seeing two waterfalls. In about 30 minutes of hiking, you will encounter two waterfalls, Upper and Lower Hooppii Falls. Adventurous hikers go cliff jumping from the first falls, while the second falls offers a more tranquil waterfall experience with swimming and a rope swing.
Queen’s Bath Trail
One of the shortest hikes in Kauai, Queen’s Bath Trail is an easy out-and-back trail that is under a mile long. Queen’s Bath is a pool protected by large lava rocks, and it is big enough for jumping or even a quick snorkeling session. Usually, this trail is quite easy, but it can be slippery when wet. Queen’s Bath Trail is closed during the winter due to dangerous conditions.
Wai Koa Loop Trail
Flat and incredibly walkable, Wai Koa Loop Trail is a popular spot for hiking, mountain biking, and running. At 3.7 miles long, it is on the longer side for an easy hike, but the flat terrain makes the distance manageable. Along the trail, you will encounter a stone-built dam, which is a great place to pull off for a rest and savor a serene moment.
Kuilau Ridge Trail
Some would argue that Kuilau Ridge Trail is more of a moderate hike than an easy one, but it is well-kept and not overly steep, so it fits. This hike is ideal for hikers looking to immerse themselves in a jungle-like environment; vegetation is lush, and you will have plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife like cranes, chickens, and more.
Canyon Trail to Waipoo Falls
Canyon Trail to Waipoo Falls is probably the most difficult hike on our list of easy hikes in Kauai, but it is well worth the extra challenge. Located in Kokee State Park, this three-mile out-and-back trail features diverse environments, from lush forests to deep canyons and the beautiful Waipoo Falls, an 800-foot waterfall.
